    Notary of Documents for use in the United States

    May 14, 2019 was significant concerning the Philippine history because it was the day when the Philippines officially becomes a party to the Apostille Convention. This means that the Department of Foreign Affairs will no longer issue certificates of authentication (popularly known as “red ribbon”) for all Philippine documents to be used in a Country like the United States who is a member of the Apostille Convention.

    Only one person is required to form a corporation in the Philippines

    The enrolled copies of Senate Bill No. 1280 and House Bill No. 8374 (An Act Amending the Corporation Code of the Philippines) were already submitted on January 28, 2019 to the Presidential Legislative Liason Office for signature of President Rodrigo Duterte. I am expecting that this new corporation code will be signed into law in the next few days.

    President Rodrigo R. Duterte recently signed Executive Order No. 65 promulgating the 11th Regular Foreign Investment Negative List (RFINL). Under EO No. 65, certain businesses where foreign investors are used to be forbidden to own completely are now allowed 100% foreign ownership in such businesses.

Justice at last for “Earthquake” “Golden Boy” Espinosa after 22 years. But wait, there is more. The heirs of Nazario may file a Motion for Reconsideration of the SC Decision. If they do, this will further delay in putting the case to rest.
